Therapeutic Touch Services for Windsor, Leamington, Detroit
Therapeutic Touch is a contemporary healing modality drawn from ancient practices. It is a consciously directed process of energy exchange during which the practitioner uses the hands as a focus for facilitating healing. Therapeutic Touch is based on the assumptions that human beings are complex fields of energy and that the ability to enhance healing in another or self is a natural potential.
In the state of health, life energy flows freely in, through and out of each person’s energy field in an orderly manner. When disease or injury occurs, the flow of energy is affected and may be described as obstructed, disordered or depleted. Therapeutic Touch practitioners influence the energy flow to restore the integrity of the field and to move it toward wholeness and health. Therapeutic Touch as a method of healing is used by both professionals in the health field and laymen in the community.
What is a Therapeutic Touch session like?
A Therapeutic Touch session usually does not exceed 20 minutes and the client remains fully clothed. Therapeutic Touch can be done with no physical touching, or with light touch on the shoulders, arms and legs. The session can be administered while the client is sitting or lying down. First, the practitioner consciously places herself in a calm, alert state of inner quiet and being in the present moment. Then, as she moves her hands from the head to the feet, two to four inches from the body, she notes any differences in the quality of the energy flow. Following this, she moves her hands in a gentle, rhythmic motion with the intent to redistribute and rebalance the receiver’s energy field. A 20 minute rest period is encouraged after the session for the body’s natural healing mechanism to respond to the client’s rebalanced energy flow, and the client’s own healing momentum continues.
What do I feel during a session?
As responses to a Therapeutic Touch session vary, there is no “wrong” way to experience it. The session is very relaxing and many of those receiving Therapeutic Touch fall asleep. Some may feel warmth or energy moving through their bodies or feel slight tingling sensations.
